Fun Things to do in Guelph for Family Day!

Family Day is around the corner and that means its times to try something new and exciting that everyone will love. It can be hard to come up with new activities or day trips that the whole fam will enjoy in the cold winter. Here is a list of fun ideas to keep you busy on this holiday!

Beitz Carriages

Sit back & enjoy a peaceful sleigh ride through the snow while taking in the beautiful views of the forest! Make sure you bundle up! Warm up after with some hot chocolate. Saint Jacobs Horse Drawn Tours

The big sleigh can accommodate up to fifteen adults and the small sleigh up to four adults. Both sleighs go on the same trails and offer the same length ride. The price is based on the sleigh instead of per person. The large sleigh is $175.00 for the entire package and the small sleigh is $125.00 for the entire package. After the 45-minute sleigh ride, we invite you to relax in their rustic sugar shack. Sipping on hot apple cider and sitting close to the wood stove is another great way to spend time with family and friends. November through to mid-February (Depending on weather.) Bundle up for some exhilarating tobogganing! There are three good hills in Guelph; Scottsdale Hill, Lambton Hill, and Mole Hill. It’s been said that Mole Hill is the best because it is very steep and has a long landing area.

The Royal Garrison

If your children are a bit older the Royal Garrison offers a unique day of authentic archery and throwing axes. Their facility features a 60ft archery range and a 10/15ft range for throwing axes & knives. It’s recommended that you make a reservation beforehand! Located at 28 Essex Street, Guelph.

Put your skills to the test & head to Khronos Gauntlet & try to escape one of their themed rooms. Sneak around the Wizard’s Tower or traverse the dark and mysterious Dungeon or a post-apocalyptic research laboratory. Their rooms are so realistic you will feel like you are in another era! There is a minimum or 3 or 4 guest depending on the room & cost $25 person. Make sure you make a reservation ahead of time! Located at 50 Cork Street East, Guelph.

There is also Fantescape! Immerse yourself in one of our themed rooms with your family. You have 60 minutes to solve the puzzles & figure your way out again. They have the Lamp of the Genie, Alien Autopsy, and The Junk Shop. $50 for the first 2 players; $15 for each additional player. Located at 121 Wyndham St. N, Guelph.


Glen Eden

Don’t let this cold weather keep you from getting outside and hitting the slopes with friends and family! Glen Eden has been busy this season making snow and grooming the hills so you have a smooth ride. Grab your snow gear and make your way to Glen Eden located at 5234 Kelso Road in Milton. If you don’t have equipment of your own, don’t worry they have rental options you can check out here! Other perks include cross-country skiing and snowshoeing!

Chicopee Ski Club

There is also Chicopee which is only a 20-minute drive from Guelph. It is located at 396 Morrison Road, Kitchener. The life tickets range from $8 to $38.
