Why Not to Go with the Cheapest Realtor to Sell Your Home

Why Not to Go with the Cheapest Realtor to Sell Your Home

Most people equate a lower commission with more money they will save, however that is often not the case.  It is true in a strong seller market you can probably just stick a sign in the ground and sell your home yourself.

If your goal is to get the most money for your home or to have a smooth transaction, then no matter the market you are better to go with a realtor with lots of experience and a reputation for getting good results.  There can be a large discrepancy in what two very similar houses sell for.

At the end of day what matters to the majority of people is the size of the cheque they collect from the lawyer.

The real question to ask a realtor is: how you are going to get me the most money for my house?

A second good question is how are you are going to help make the process of moving as stress-free as possible?

Here are some other good questions to ask your Realtor:

  • How many listing did you sell last year?
  • What was your average days market?
  • Do you have a reference with whom I may call?
  • What systems do you use to manage the sales process?
  • Describe the steps you go through to sell my house?
  • What things do you to give my home marketing exposure, can I see examples?
  • Who is doing your staging?
  • What are your sales to list ratio?
  • Do you supply furniture and at what cost?
