A History of Palmerston

Palmerston is a peaceful enclave nestled in the Town of Minto. As a historic railway town in Wellington County, it’s slowly becoming known for its picturesque setting and relatively affordable real estate. Residents are rightly proud of the rich heritage of their home town, which maintains the only original station remaining in the county.

Today, you can get a glimpse of the town’s history at the Palmerston Railway Heritage Museum. This is also the site of the relatively new and cherished annual Raleway Festival, a celebration that includes entertainment, games, handcar rides, as well as the obligatory food and drinks.

Secondary students attend Norwell District Secondary School in nearby Minto, which offers gifted academics, athletics, and arts programs. Both fall under the Upper Grand District School Board, which serves the City of Guelph and Wellington and Dufferin Counties.
