Why We Love Kortright West

Why We Love Kortright West

There are so many things I love about Kortright West. It’s a great south end location, yet it’s still close to downtown. There’s easy access to the 401 via the Hanlon Parkway, making it great for commuters. There are also lots of great amenities here, but what I like probably best about this place is about 50% of it is parks and conservation.

The Hanlon Creek Park is a huge network of trails. It’s wonderful for biking, hiking, taking your dog for a walk, and there’s also a splash park there.

If after all that hiking you’re hungry, there are some great restaurants in this area. Manhattans is a nice cozy restaurant with Italian cuisine. I love their thin crust pizzas and most nights it has live music. Shakespeare Arms also has some of my favorite dishes, like their California wrap and its one of my favorite patios. The Fat Duck also has a great selection of food and beer.

The north border is Stone Road and to the east is Gordon. Both of those streets are filled with other restaurants, stores and all sorts of amenities. With all the parks and conservation, there are many wonderful family streets where quite a few of the homes will actually back on to green space.

There are a lot of direct bus routes right to the University of Guelph, also making this a popular area for students. The affordability in this area of many of the houses also makes it an ideal location for first-time buyers. Kortright West is a wonderful neighborhood to live in or invest in.
